Well last night wasn't the best, the expensive SIM ( self inflating mat ) developed another leak. The van has a bed built in but the mat adds that bit extra comfort for my knackered back.
So only one thing for it we whent in search of a camping shop. A couple of minutes on the Internet revealed a Decathalon outlet 7 mile up the road . A new bed sorted we decided to stay out as the weather wasn't the best. Dry, warm but overcast with a strong wind.
We headed for Cabo de Gata , a national park that boasts an unspoilt landscape, a rare thing for this part of the world.
Around half an hour the other side of Almeria from the camp site the countryside opend up, not a block of flats or hotel in sight.
The area is mountainous and very barren but strangely beautiful. Plants and tree's growing that I didn't recognise.
Working our way over the mountain track that followed the coast the views went on and on. We then had to do a u turn as the track was gated and only walking allowed. Back on the main road we headed for Playa Monsal, a beach just outside of San Jose. San Jose is a very pretty , small ,seaside town and well worth a visit.
Playa Monsal was a great find. The beach was at the end of a 3 or 4 mile dirt track. It was deserted and we spent a couple of hours exploring and taking photos before it was time to head back. We didnt want to get back after dark as it would be hard to find our pitch.
Back to the campsite just as dark fell and as I write this I'm lying on a lovley comfortable bed listening to the sound of the waves.
Perfect end to a great day exploring.
