Another peaceful night even though the aire had lighting on all night. Woke around 6 to the sound of other vans moving off. Thought it was a bit early so had a a bit of a lazey start not getting up till 8.00. Sun was up so i took a stroll to the view point to see it come up over the reservoir but was a bit late, still nice and peaceful though.
Got going around 9.00 and had an easy drive through Belgium with only a little traffic around Brussels. Pulled off the motorway lunchtime in need of cheap diesel and bread. Found the cheap diesel but all the shops and baker's were shut, well it is Sunday. Managed to get baguettes on the motorway so all not lost, had lunch and plodded on. Was originally heading for an aire on the coast about 25 mile outside of Calais but forgot that its Sunday and hot , the village was ramed with double parking and the aire solid in fact it was overflowing into the car park. Tried another just on the edge of the town but it turned out to be a carfour car park, full facilities with water and power but not a nice location so we got back onto the motorway. A few miles outside of Calais we found the perfect spot. Tarmac and grass car park, no facilities but lovely and quite with walks and cycle tracks around a nature reserve and rowing lake. Had a brew and as it was only 3.00 ish had a walk around the lake for a couple of hours in the sun. Brilliant end to the day.
