Trip to Scotland - day 7 Gairloch to Firetrap beach.

Yet another sunny morning as we packed and set off. We had heard about Inverewe gardens at Poolewe and headed that way it was only a few miles but the scenary didn't disapoint on the way and nor did the gardens.
The gelonging are owned by the Scottish trust so we gained entrance free with our National Trust membership. The guide we had been given recommend 2 to 2.5 hours  to tour the site and house. It took us all day leaving as they closed at 5.00 !! It was easily one of the best gardens I've seen with collections of species from all around the world grouped into sections amongst openings in the Scotts pine shelter belt. The most memorable are the Rhododendrons and Azaleas,  most in full and perfect bloom and the scent off some filling the air. The house was interesting , although rebuilt in the 1930 following a fire that destroyed the original it was full of old photographs and memorabilia of the chap that created the gardens in the late 1800 and his daughter who continued the work.
After almost being locked in we went in search of a stop for the night and found an area above dunes just outside a small collection of crofters cottages at Inverasdale. Called firetrap beach it's an area owned by the locals and they let campers use it for 5 quid a night in an honesty box. No water or facilities on site other than waste bins but so pretty it's worth it.
Miles today a massive 18 !
