Trip to Scotland -day 1 Home to Carlisle

Van eventually packed and ready after problems installing the new leisure battery with wiring coming uncliped and joints coming apart.
We left home with a brim full tank at 11.10  am. M6 slow in parts with roadworks but ok once we got past m56 junction.
Found a beautiful spot in port of Carlisle. A tiny village that takes its name from a fishing port that never really took of and fell into disuse in the mid 1800's.
The site ( a ccc certified site ) is small with basic toilets and cold shower. Nice and peaceful over looking the estuary.
After mostly cloud and rain on the journey up it had now warmed up and the sun shone while we walked along the estuary,  following the Hadrians wall footpath. We came across an old chap who was earning money off passing walkers by taking photos of them standing under a personalised finger post. It was a laugh and the chap was funny and 10 min later we had paid him 4 quid for the privilege !
Back at the van the owner turned up and we paid her 10 quid for the nights stay then found out the lady who owned the site was the sister of the chap who took the photos so between them they had made 14 quid off us !

215 miles
