The final leg

After torrential rain it was blue sky's and sun this morning. Had a look around the aire and village with my camera phone but time was ticking and we needed to get the train at 4.00 with around 280 miles to do first. Not a lot I know but around half of that is not motorway so it can be slow going.
Got under way by 9.00 for probably the most uninteresting part of the whole journy, not just because it's the last day but its just not that nice a part of France. The highlight was finding fuel at a great €1.30 per litre next to the best patisserie of the trip, you have to give it to the French when it comes to pastries!
After taking umpteen wrong turnings I pulled over to check the satnav app on my phone to find out that somehow the preferences had changed so that it favoured minor roads, must have happened when it crashed ( honest Ange it wasn't me fiddling with it !)
Got to the Euro tunnel 15 minutes late so had to wait an hour for the next train, not to bad gave us time to stretch our legs. An hour and half later were back in England and on the wonderful car park known as the M25 !
We had our usual chat about the good and not so good points of the trip. It was, if I'm honest not the best way to tour we would both rather be on two wheels but at this time of year with the rain, hail and snow it makes sense. We would definitely come this way again especially in February as the weather once in Almeria was beautiful and its changed our opinions on Spain for the better. Next trip will need to have the motorbike rack on the back then it will be the best of both worlds.
So the van ran great, never missed a beat over 3,110 miles. Oil consumption nil and it returned just over 40 mpg so not bad for a ten year old van.
Thanks for reading and posting comment's, for some reason I was unable to reply to them until I was back on wifi.
