Snow snow then a bit more snow

Not a bad nights sleep considering the location but cold. Had to scrape the ice of the inside of the windows and thats with thermal blinds fitted ! Fired up the diesel heater and got a brew going , we soon warmed up and got on the road for 8.30.
With heavy sky's we headed for Zaragosa intending to turn off for Pamplona and return through the Pyrenees the same way we came. However due to my lack of concentration and the satnav not doing as it's told we ended up slap in the middle of Zaragoza in the rush hour, oh what fun!
35 minutes later and a whole 8 mile we came out the other side heading for Huesca and then I assumed we would take the lower tunnel route but the satnav yet again had other ideas. I should have realised when the rain turned to snow and then a blizzard followed by traffic coming the opposite way with a foot of snow on the roof that we were going over the higher route. Then came warning signs flashing you to fit snow chains but the roads seemed ok so we carried on.
We stopped overlooking a lake for lunch but the snow looked like it was getting worse, not wanting to turn back or get stuck we hurried lunch and pressed on only to have a snow plough pass in the opposite direction. The scenery was beautiful but I couldn't enjoy it , I was to busey watching the crash barriers and the sheer drops!
Then as quick as it started the snow stopped as we passed the ski slopes and over the summit and into France. The depth of snow at the side of the road was incredible, easily several feet deeper than the height of our van.
As we started to decend the snow slowly dissappeard to be replaced by pine forrest.
We then went via pau ,  Roquefort before stoping at a small village Aire in Bernos Beaulac. A nice area just of the main road next to a river. Total miles 283.
