Day 35 - Mannheim, Germany to Leige, Belgium.

As we didn't have far to go today we didn't rush to get away. The forecast was good but the sky was very grey so we put all the wet gear on. It's another couple of hundred boring motorway miles today so wasn't expecting much. However, it stayed dry and the sun shone through and as we left the city behind we climbed and spent the rest of the journey traveling through forests. They stretched as far as you could see from one horizon to the other. The autumn colours looked like the trees were on fire it was so vivid. As we where riding through the Rheinhessen
region the forrest gave way to steep valley's covered with vineyards, it looked like the grapes had long been picked and the vines where covered in autumn colour. Just as we entered Belgium we were on the lookout for a lunch stop but hadn't seen anything so we turned off and ended up riding into a deep forest and came across the old Belgium / German border. With the opening up of the borders it looked like the importance of the village wained and the shops and pubs all lay empty. Disappointed and still hungry we carried on and arrived at the hotel at 3.00 the earliest finish to a day ever!
I spent the time checking the bike over and totalling up the stats to date ready for the final post of the trip tomorrow.
Miles today - 234
Hours in the saddle - 4
