A tour of Crete

A couple of weeks away in Crete and a bit of sun to chill out can't beat it. Only one problem the RT will be tucked up in the garage ! Answer ? Hire bike. After a couple of hours on the net I had tracked down a reasonable looking company and sorted a Honda Transalp for a weeks hire.
Arrived at the apartments in Elounda with out any problems. Nice rooms in a lovely quiet fishing port . Spent three days relaxing before going to pick the bike up.
Well off I went this morning , helmet in hand to collect the bike as arranged. A pleasant half hour stroll to the edge of the town, found the shop but could only see scooters! Not a transalp in site.
Explained what it was that we had come to pick up to this old Greek guy." Sorry but its not been returned" he said with a sheepish look.
To cut a long story short some German guy had decided to keep it for another day and was on the other side of the island.
We left, I'm afraid to say, on a 250 Bergman. Enough said on that and I don't want any piss take when I get home.
Had a little run down the coast to Malia and Stalis just to check out the resort and see if it had changed much since last visited some 5 years ago. Pretty much the same but very very quiet, I guess that's a sign of the economic times.
Scooter was not so bad as scooters go but disappointed.
Got back to the rooms at 5 pm to be greeted by the bike shop man with the transalp , sorted!!
Now let's just hope the weather holds for tomorrow.
