Day 2

Alarm woke us from a deep sleep at 6.30 am. I looked out of the window to check on the bike but couldn't see for the thick fog ! Great. Had a bite to eat and filled up with tea, why do the french think its OK to make tea with luke warm water ? Packed up the bike and after exchanging views on the pros and cons of BMW bikes with another guy on his way home we managed to get off at 8.45 am.
I was not looking forward to today. 400 odd miles of none stop concrete slab, mind numbing but it had to be done, the thick fog meant that our top speed was around 40 mph for over an hour. We began to climb up out of the Valley and the fog lifted to reveal a clear blue sky and the sun was up. It was good to start to warm up and we soon set a good pace heading for Germany. The motorway stretched ahead over the valleys that were still covered in mist,it gave the affect of riding over the clouds, very strange. Filled up after a couple of hours and pushed on to Meinhem ( not sure on the spelling ! ) And stopped just the other side for lunch at 12.30. Traffic and road works not to bad and after another fuel stop we arrived at Munchen and picked u some supplies as we would be camping from now on.
Pulled into the campsite in the village of Seeshaupt , camping near the shore of a beautiful lake.
I write this just as the sun sets in a clear sky and by the feel of it we are in for a cold night.
Total miles to day 460.
