Sky was slate grey with rain throwing in on the wind that although had calmed a little still rocked the van. We packed up and checked out. Paying around €70 for the 4 nights so not too bad. By the time we got going the rain had stoped and we headed off down the coast. Progress was slow as its a very twisty coastal road but we wasn't in any rush. We stopped for lunch on a pull in that would, I imagine, have great views on a clear day but today we could barely make out the outline of some of the closest islands. Picked up diesel from a small village station as we had only third of a tank left the as sods law predicts came across a large and cheaper station on the outskirts of Senj.
Driving through Senj we stopped for supplies and got stung on a local car park , 20 Kn for about 30 minutes, should have realised why the car park was empty!
The sun started to appear and the roads dried up and even the views began to improve. This is a beautiful part of the world with literally hundreds of tiny islands scattered along the coast in a sea that is crystal clear and a lovely blue. Still enjoying the drive we spotted a couple of campers pitched on an outcrop of land surrounded by pine trees. We found the entrance pulled in , they had room . It was a modern site only opened a year or two so the facilities were brilliant and all for €19 a night with electric . Only problem was that the heavy rain had flooded the water heating system so the site only had cold water. No problem to us with on board water heating. Found a great pitch on the beach and sat in the afternoon sun with a brew, what a life.
