Woke to the sound of the village clock striking 7. Despite the cold we managed a decent nights sleep. With out any gas to cook up breakfast not much point in hanging around so we packed and pulled off the deserted site at 8.00. It was very cold with drizzle as we hit Munich in the rush hour. Traffic was heavy but kept moving even in the road works. I wonder if the British could learn a thing or two about traffic management from the Germans ? Just as I was thinking about it I took the wrong turning, the daft thing is it happened in exactly the same place last time we came this way! Back on route the rain started heavy and slowed things down. It rained all the way to the Stuttgart turning later in the morning. Just after the sun came out and it stayed dry but cold for the rest of the day. Started to overtake lorries carrying John Deere tractors and wondered what was going on then passed the factory. ( Sorry Steve but couldn't stop for a photo ! ) Traffic was light and we made good progress with only a couple of accidents slowing things down. To pass time we chatted about the past four weeks. We both agreed that even though we were looking forward to seeing the kids back at home we could have carried on. A month goes by so quickly when your enjoying yourself. We wouldn't have changed a thing even the crappy Albanian roads! We also discussed what was the most and least useful thing we packed. Least useful we agreed was the radio, never used it the whole trip. Most useful for Angie was a pack of Asda cloths for mopping up all the rain water ! For me it was my Blackberry.
Pulled into the Hotel car park in Liege at 6.00 and early to bed, tomorrow we strike out for the euro tunnel and the good old UK.
Total miles today 483 and no hint of a sore backside !
