Calm dry night and a good nights sleep. Woke at 6.00 and lay thinking of the young couple on a pitch near to us. They are travelling around the world in an old VW camper van along with the kids. They have just set out and have a year to do it. Now that's sounds like a plan don't you think?
Stopped day dreaming and set to with the packing. The gas cartridge for the cooker was running low so I nipped up the shop, one of the few places that I new I could get hold of one. Bad news , sold out and non available in Dubrovnik advised the guy in the shop.
Got back to the tent and suggested to Angie that she really savours the tea she was drinking as it would be the last until we get home, Didn't go down to well !
On the road for 8.30. We followed the coast road over the new bridge at Dubrovnik and up to Ploce were we would pick up the motorway. The sun was shining and lighting up the many islands with a lovely orange glow. This stretch of road is great, one of my favourites. Not only stunning views but great bends that have you flicking the bike none stop.
Crossed the border into Bosnia with just a quick glance at the passports from the guards. Ten minutes later and we qued to get back into Croatia again at the next crossing !!
We stopped for breakfast just outside of Ploce at the roadside amongst roadside fruit sellers. I've never seen such an abundance of fresh fruit in one place. Every kind of fruit you can think of.
We climbed up the mountain from Ploce on the new section of motorway. It is only partly completed and we had to rejoin the A road after ten mile or so. You can see the motorway construction well into the distance. It really marks the country side and made me feel a bit guilty using it.
The sky was starting to grow very dark when, with out any warning, we had a sudden flash of lightning immediately above us with a clap of thunder. Angie nearly wet herself and then the heavens opened. Buy the time we had pulled over to get the wet suits on we were soaked threw. We stood laughing trying to hop into wet weather suits in gear that was already sodden. After twenty odd mile we rejoined the motorway. It rained on and off for the next hour or so until the Sky brightened and the sun came through. Even then temperature signs only displayed 13 deg. We pulled into a service station to track down a hot drink. Pulling of my wet gear resulted in a puddle on the car park running from the inside of the waterproof ! the suit will be going back to the supplier as soon as we get home.
We carried on towards Senj with not a lot happening. Paid €10.60 and got off the motorway. We arrived at the campsite at 4.20 bathed in a lovely late afternoon sun. Checked in for the night to be told by the owner that they close after tonight. Threw the tent up and lay in the sun getting warm. Its surprising to see how the site has greened up in the few weeks since we last came through. A sign that autumn is not far away.
